thenewsis (“we”, “us”) operates this site. This policy explains what personal data we collect and how we handle it.

What we collect

• Newsletter subscribers: your email address, which you provide when signing up. Nothing else.
• Paid subscribers: your email address and subscription status. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Stripe’s handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy.
• Website visitors: nothing. This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no advertising, and uses no analytics that identify you. We do not sell or share personal data with anyone.

Why we collect it (lawful basis)

We use your email address to deliver the newsletter or briefs you asked for (performance of contract for paid subscribers; consent for the free newsletter). We do not use it for anything else.

Subprocessors

A small number of third-party services help us run thenewsis. Each processes data only for the purpose listed below, under its own privacy terms.

• Stripe: payment processing for paid subscriptions.
• Railway: application hosting and database.
• Resend: sending transactional email (contact form messages, subscription notices).

How long we keep it

Free newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which you can do by writing to us. Paid subscriptions: for the duration of your subscription and as required afterwards for tax and accounting records.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Get in touch. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
